What a great way to open the season last Sunday with a big win over the Browns and a HUGE crowd at Peabody’s. We had a great mix of veteran members and a whole lot of rookies who are just discovering what an awesome time it is to watch a Jets game with their new found family.
Our Jets also delivered a most impressive victory coming away with a 31 – 10 win. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for two TD’s and my man Chris Ivory ran for two more scores leading a newly charged up Jets offense. Both our #1 & 2 receivers had touchdown catches which bodes well for the long season ahead. Let’s not forget about our killer D that had five, count em.. 1, 2, 3, 4, FIVE takeaways against the Browns, including an interception and two forced fumbles. And thankfully, after a bit of a scare for Cro and rookie linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin, it looks like both will be OK and ready to play sooner than anyone thought at the time.
Sure I know it was just the Browns but it was great getting the win.
Now comes a real test… the Monday night national game against the Colts at their locale and with them coming off a big loss to boot. They sure don’t want to start the season 0-2 but a win against the Colts would be AWESOME to watch and a great way to let the league know that the New York Jets just might be the real deal this season.
For our rookie club members, be aware that we WILL be at Peabody’s on Monday night in full force and ready to cheer our boys in green on to VICTORY! So, be sure to come out and have some fun. I’m really looking forward to seeing others veterans who couldn’t be at last weeks game where our 50/50 raffle sent one lucky winner home with quite a load of cabbage (did Millie buy those shoes she threatened you with Tommy?). I’ve got some new prizes for this weeks raffle and all the same drink specials will apply just cause we’re special!
All in all it was a great game and a great day last Sunday. It will be an even better day on Monday when we are 2-0!
See you at P’s!
J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS!!!
My given name may be Steve but my friends have been calling me Festa for the last 30 years. While I really miss going to all the JETS home games and tailgating with a large group of friends, it’s really great being here in Tampa around other JETS fans while we root for our team. When I founded the fan club in October of 2004 I never imagined it would become as massive as it now has with over 600 members from around the world and sister Fan Club Chapters in 4 other Florida cities and growing.
