Off season Updates

Hey all,

It's been a few months since my last email and I thought I'd fill everyone in on a few things that have been brewing with the club since the off season started...

Draft Day Get Together at Peabody's

Well, since it's been a few months since we've all gotten together, I thought it might be fun to get together at Peabody's for Draft Day 2007. The Draft starts this Saturday (April 28th) at noon. So let's plan on getting together around noon to hang out and catch up on some off season stuff.

For great coverage about the draft, visit the NFL's official draft site.

Fan Club Contacted by the NY Jets

Yes you read that right. Shortly after the season ended, the Events and Game Operations Manager for the New York Jets contacted me via email to ask about the club. He helped get us listed on the New York Jets official site and we've been gaining lots of new members as a result. You can see the listing for yourself by clicking here.  We will also be able to get some Jets "stuff" and other marketing material for fan club members next year. I'll keep you posted as more info arrives.

Fan Club History

As part of the information I put together for the official Jets listing, I also put together a history of the NY Jets Fan Club of Tampa Bay. It's an account of how and when the club began and where it is now complete with picture and more. Check it out here..

2007 Jets Schedule Released

The 2007 Jets schedule has been released including opening day at home against the hated New England patriots. From the looks of things it could be a very tough year. You'll find the schedule here.

Opening Day Tailgate Party at Peabody's

As anyone in the fan club who has been to a Jets home game can attest too, the tailgate party outside before the game is as much fun as the game itself. During lean win years it was often more fun! Jonathan and I would arrive at the stadium around 8am for 1pm game's and cook, eat, drink and party with about 30 of our friends until just before kickoff. I always looked forward to Sunday home games and miss tailgating terribly.

So what is a Tampa resident to do if they want to have a Jets tailgate party... they throw one themselves! I've spoken to Ian, the owner of Peabody's, and he loved the idea. We are working together to try and put together a real tailgate party in the parking lot outside of Peabody's before the Jets opening day on Sunday, September 9th 2007.

We want and need this to be OK'd by the town/city so if anyone has any ideas or any kind of know how to get this accomplished, please contact me ASAP! I want this to be the "kickoff event" to the fan clubs 2007 season and plan to put out a press release and try to get news coverage in order to get this out there. Any and all help or suggestions would be most welcome. Send ideas and more to Festa@Jets-Fan.com .
